Why this BIAS towards people living in Mumbai?
Why the step-motherly treatment to all those people in the above regions who have to live with power cuts daily?
While Mumbai wastes power in all kinds of ways, people face the brunt of power shortage.
The timing of load shedding was increased from 4 hrs to 6 hrs since March, 2007. Now in April, it has gone up to 8-10 hrs with erratic schedules. Hardly does a mother put her child to sleep at night; and again there is a power cut between 11.00 pm to 12.00 am and again between 4.00 am to 6.00 am. Whereas in Mumbai, Page 3 people and the elite party till 5.00 – 6.00 am. Why does the government not curb this power wastage?
There are sick and aged people who are suffering too. If their health deteriorates, will the government take responsibility? What about problems being faced by pregnant women and small children? School and college kids cannot enjoy their summer vacations due to the sweltering heat and no power unlike their counterparts in Mumbai?
People have to schedule their time to make use of basic electric appliances at homes and commercial places and on the other hand, there are dozens of film award ceremonies taking place week after week for the same stuff. How much power is being utilized for these award ceremonies? Does anyone care?
Why are we being treated as outcasts? Do people living in Mumbai pay double or triple times the taxes that we pay? We too are part of the population who contribute towards the economic development and progress of Mumbai and the country. Everyday, there is a debate whether Mumbai should be spared from load shedding and getting a respite for another few days or weeks. When crores are being spent on our useless cricketers, why can’t the same amount be spent on generating power for the people? Multinationals pay ridiculous amounts to cricketers and film personalities for endorsements? Do consumers especially the common man care a damn who is endorsing the product and do they actually watch the ad after a second or third time unless it is an exceptional one? Why don’t these companies utilize their monies for the development of the state and city? They will get their returns. Consumers will be more than happy to buy their product or service with without even throwing a glance at these ads.
Why should we pay the same taxes as those people living in Mumbai when we do not get even 1/3rd of the basic facilities like power? After a hard day’s work, we look forward to returning home to some relaxation but we are met with total darkness and complaining faces all over.
We need our tax monies worth or else we need a refund of all the taxes paid so far.
Where is Govinda? Did he ever show interest in the grievances of the people in his constituency? His Bhaagam Bhaag is only for fame and money. Where are the other politicians? Same false promises. Local goons have a nexus with corrupt politicians. All are only interested in filling up their coffers. Politicians and the authorities are only concerned with their being in power, but what about POWER for the common man?
Mr. PM, Mr. FM, Mr. CM, MPs, MLA, MLCs – are you all listening? Everyone talks about India progressing, India poised, India going global. Is this progress? Is this globalization? We feel we are going back to the primitive days at the rate we are living here. First, take care of the common man’s needs and then see how you go global.
Our grievances are not published by newspapers because they are not sensational like any celebrity wedding, cold war, murder trial, etc. etc. The never-ending Indian cricket saga gets lots of Print and TV space, but what about the highlighting the grievances of us people?
When a celebrity’s dog is lost, it grabs attention. If an actor or actress falls or faints, it is there in the newspaper. Do we not faint? Do we not fall? Do we not suffer?
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HEARD.
Mumbai citizens fight for stray dogs and cats and their rights but during the topic of discussions for sharing the load-shedding, these very people do not show any concern for us fellow citizens and go out by saying “Mumbai cannot go without power."
If the whole of Maharashtra is subjected to load shedding 2 hrs daily, 1 hr - early morning and 1 hr - late evening, we can distribute the load shedding equally and also solve the power shortage to a greater extent.
WE DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS AND SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEMS IMMEDIATELY

This open letter was sent to Mid-Day on 10th April, 2007. But, they ignored the letter by not publishing it.
Everyday, they are writing articles about Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding, "Rajkumar", the elephant, and other irrelevant news. But, they do not have the guts to publish the facts and our problems. SHAME ON MID-DAY
Another newspaper Hindustan Times royally ignores the Naigaon-Virar region in their reports/articles on load-shedding and comes up with articles like "City escapes power cuts this month", etc. Even, after bringing this to the notice of the Editor, they did not bother to publish the complaint letter.
The newspapers/media are very biased.
You know now there is one Inverter available in market which is Government recognised. It means our govt. has a share in it. So friends matter is clear. Govt. has found a new way of earning money to fill their own pocket.
well ppl i completely agree with all that is being said bt wat can we do to turn things straight.....
any SOLUTIONS
Nowadays Power is being cut off even at night. I still remember when i was small the power used to go only on fridays. Now its going everyday. We are moving backwards. I also Remember the "DESTRUCTION OF MSEB OFFICE" at Parnaka when the bills were given wrongly. Does the MSEB want the same treatment again. I hope not......
Agreed with some of your points,
But Mumbai will never face a power cut as it will effect FDI as well as MNC,
AS Power cuts in Mumbai will directly result in slow down of commercial activities (ie lot of jobs will be lost)
If any one rembembers there was a commitee setup three years ago tackle the power cricis and also to plan for the next 10 years
As there is no accountability in leaders, who are elected by us!
We find ourselves in this mess and we have no one to blame but the very Government elected by us
politicians dont have a solution, so they play blame game with opposition
The people incharge of providing us power are idiots...they give stupid reasons and xpect us to believe those...power cuts are increasing...not long before we have people on the roadsready to murder anyone responsible....
well they would have the argument that Mumbai i the commercial choid
parts need to be comfy if this commercial capital's to wrk...

vasai.
Extremely correct. And if their's no PROPER solution to this problem then we'll not back down without a fight; whether anyone hates us or support us.
Heloo friends,
Its gr8 to see a blog related to the Power cut problemsit is believed dat mumbai gets about Rs 58,000 crore as tax.can u believe it its the highest tax ever received throughout the country, where does all this money go?,certainly into wrong hands.
If they want dey can get power from anywhere they want to,mumbai had a shortfall of 200MW of electricity, and they managed to get 100MW in just one week, funny aint it,yeah coz mumbai always feels dat pinch, being the commercial hub.
Guyz itz upto us.whether we take all this or give it a fight.Cheers!!!!!!!
U hit the Nail Right in the Head its a bout time we took up the issue I am a taxpayer myself ended up paying 10 Grand myself & I cant even have power to light up my Home. True I have an Inverter but its not of much use if I cant charge it up. Think its about time we took matters in our own Hands & show the bloody fools who run the country & the power utility what we are made of....
Yes, I am completely agree to all the points that you all have mentioned.
Nowadays what u can see is posters of models all over mumbai saying that i will keep my ac at 24 degrees, i will use my geyser before 10am and ...... to keep mumbai powerful. but i would like to remind them that there are people like us who have to stay without fan and light for 10 hours. Is it fair enough? And where are these so called social workers who for every small reason have big morchas? are they sleeping? why no protest is being carried out??????????????????
i agree with u , seriously man this shit has crosssed its limit, u know that due to this load shedding the realty rates in these areas has fallen by more than 30% !
The power cuts in Naigoan-Virar is just realy crossing its limits..I think its high time we all step our foot down and do something about this problem..Ispite of all the light problems we hav also being receivin high electricity bills..and we hav time schedules but then to the lights go out in between many times which stops ones entire work..just bcause Naigoan-Virar is not a industrialist area that doesn't mean they take the lights whenever wanted.....
WHATS D USE?????
I FEEL ITS BETTER NOT TO HAV LIGHTS FOR D ENTIRE DAY RATHER ATLEAST AT NIGHT V SHOULD HAV FULL TIME LIGHTS,AS IT IS THE LIGHTS GO OUT MOST OF THE DAY...NFREQUENTLY IN BETWEEN...
Everyone should come together and file a case in highest court against state government, MSEB and officials holding them accountable for complete breakdown of power. That is the only solution.
Agree 100% with everything posted in the blog. But the most interesting fact is no news paper carries anything about the power cut in Vasai-virar belt. Nobody feels anything for the children/people in this belt. The news paper carries pictures of children studying in candle light etc when there is 30 minutes power cut in mumbai. The heat/summer is only for the poeple of mumbai. The people living in the vasai virar region are not human .
All of us should unite and fight the corrupt politicians. For years we faced water shortage problems. Now when this is sorted out there is power cuts. I request all the people to come ut before the next election and ask for SECtion 49 to be brought in to action. The section 49 O is as follows
Section 49-O of the Constitution:
Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the
1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly
notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".
Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....
Please spread this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on...
"Please forward this mail to as many as possible, so that we, the
people of India, can really use this power to save our nation". Use
your voting right for a better INDIA.
So people unite only we can do this

Even 'The Times of India' has not published the letter on our woes. The media is only for the rich, elite and celebrities. See the mad media frenzy for Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan wedding. Moreover, how much power is being wasted for such kind of extravagance?
We are in total darkness and there the rich are enjoying uninterrupted power supply at our expense.
Why are we ignored? Why this treatment for us? Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Power Minister on April 19th, 2007 has said that Mumbai City may escape load-shedding this summer as he is planning to get additional power within a week. TOI could publish this news, but not our letter. Mr. Shinde, what about us???? Are we not contributing to the economic development of the state and country????
Government and concerned authorities, we will not pay our taxes until our grievances are addressed. We have had enough of this tolerance.
really yaar ! even on weekends, we face power shortage btwn 5-9 in the evning which is the prime time. all our work skeds r hampered. & in tis summer, maaannn there's a limit to which you can tke tis shit.n i heard tht its goin to gt even worse than this (if its possible). u shud ask virarites 'how many hours do you guys get electricity in a day ?' and not the contrary.our prob is barely highlighted in all this load shedding story.hi-time sm1 did smthing about this.

Yes, we can do it. Spread the word and get more to sign.
The powercut causes great inconvenience especially to students and aged people and babies. Hospitals are badly affected. Naigaum-Virar is a newly developed belt and houses new families where newly borns are a plenty. This region had water problems which has been sorted. Now the latest torture is power-cuts. People in the city cannot bear a 30-minute power cut; whereas we have to tolerate 8 hours of no power. To add to the woes of daily commuting. Will someone take notice of us, please, and solve this problem. Give a part of our misery to the city people too.
Agreed with whatever U said . Yes articles which are not important are published in the newspaper. The people most effected by this power cut are our old parents/babies/bedridden etc.. why should only V the people of Naigaon-Virar suffer the powercuts, during exams it was published in the newspaper that Mumbai children are not able to study for their exams due to power cuts & action was taken there. What about the children in Naigaon - Virar, just imagine how they might hv got ready for their exams cos even if v would hv complained no action would hv taken place. Why ??? Right said, are V not humans? Why treat us like the outcasts ? R V not paying the taxes ? Then give us some good reason why should V vote, specially when our politicians are corrupted ? To install an inverter, One who can afford will do it what abut the people who cannot afford it will the Government provide ??
Government is filling their pockets.
Guys V need to get up & do something..V need to get solution for this.

Totally agree with what u say.y is mumbai excluded from the power cuts. They should also have power cuts for atleast 2-3 hrs then they will know how we suffer.2-3 hrs is fine, but 10hrs is just too much.N the bill comes as usual.y should we pay the bill? 4 no current? N 4get the politicians coz they have never and will never do anything. We have to get united and get things done.We have to protest in some way so that they r forced to reduce the power cut time.

Hey all you people there,
Its time to take action and not signing this blog, I belive we all need to come together and fight for this now or else one day will come dat these bloody politician won't even hesitate to cut further more power supply.
This blog will be signed only by handfull of people like you and me. if we all take the initiative and come together and fight for this would be helpful.
I also heard that Vasaikar had demanded that "we want power supply at nighttimes" guys this attitute of ours have landed us in this situation.
I know we Vasaikars are humble enough to take this kind of shit things all the time.
(earlier water supply and now powercut)
But enought is enough.

Hi,
I support your effort to bring together all people to sign this petition.
Thanks.
Dilip.
I agree. We need to be treated as equals.we too pay taxes. Why such blaise refusal to address the issue at hand??
Some people up there in towns even demand to know "why do they need to be a part of the load shedding?"
Maybe because (we would all agree to this) they too are still Humans..

WE DEMAND A SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEMS IMMEDIATELY !!!
Now there should be a limit, why are only are families and children from naigaon-virar suffering, why not the other parts of the city.
I think the goverment and all the minister's should wake up from there sleep now, enough is enough.
Have some pity and consideration of the people living in these places.
WE EXPECT A SOLUTION TO OUR DAILY PROBLEMS..............
vasai - virar me light ka jana aam ho gaya hai- aise me hamare bachhe kaise aage padh sakte hai- sabhi ke liye invertor bithana mumkin nahi hota . phir hamare yahan ki generation literacy me pichhe ho jayegi. uska jimmeddar kaun hoga. hamare yahan ke neta bhi aage aake nahi bolte sirf election ke time kuchh vayde karenge aur phir chale jayenge., is baar ke election me public ko jagrut karke jo hamari electricity ki maange puri karenge uskoi hi vote doo agar uske adolan chalana pade to woh bhi karo . iske liye aapko accha damadar bolne vala aadmi chaiye jo public ko jaga sake . yahan pe kya hey ki mostly public service karni vali hai jo uske pass time nahi rehta to aapko gadi me niklar ya station ke pass khade rehke mike me announce kariye . yahan ke log bahot alsi hai thoda push karna padega to hi hoga.
Hi,
Vasai road and Virar need electricity.
Thanks.
Very nice post - and comments. However, you guys have woken up a little late. MERC had public hearings for Vitaran and REL sometimein March. Did any of you attend these ?
I did and fought for justice to Maharashtra consumers who were suffering unnecessarily.
But these guys will need many more consumers to get together and hammer them (not literally!).

Hey Debbi,
Its always u who takes the initative and efforts to come in front and do such great jobs.... its not me its the entire crowd with us.. and no can stop us from this for we too are humans and we too pay the same amount of money for each and every thing.... its a high time and now we need to unite and show these people that we no longer can take this shit....
Hey Dear,
Its really nice to know that some one is taking intitative to do all this for us ,We are always with u.
Its a High time now we really need justic, 9 hrs is too much and we are paying the same amount of bill inspite of such huge amount of powercuts...
I think MSEB should give up and "RELIANCE OR TATA" should take over if they dont have the ability to supply. FOR RELIANCE OR TATA can any day or any time become MSEB but MSEB even after attempts of try can never beat them or try to become like them.. they stand no where in the competion in comparision to the both....
